Most men and women need a portrait photography session at least once in their life, whether it’s senior pictures, family portraits, business headshots or a photoshoot to find the perfect dating profile pic. Photography G has 20 years of experience with portrait photography in the Denver and Boulder area. Our photographer, Garrett Hacking, has a knack for helping clients feel comfortable in front of the camera lens, which will leave you looking your best in each frame.
Garrett is an award-winning photographer who has been named “Photographer of the Year” for two consecutive years by the Greater Denver Chapter of the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE). He’s also been featured on magazine covers and promotional materials for various musicians, chefs and businesses. Garrett often flies across the country for portraits, weddings and corporate events.
If you’re looking for a portrait photographer in the Denver area, please contact Photography G today at (303) 444-6994 to schedule your consultation. Garrett Hacking and his associates provide studio and location photography to clients across Colorado and worldwide.
Our clients in Colorado and nationwide often have similar questions when they come to our studio in Uptown Denver including:
Many photographers specialize in areas of photography such as solely doing weddings or portraits, but Garrett doesn’t limit his creative abilities to just one aspect of photography. Instead, he pools his talent to give you stunning and original images using his experience shooting Rock and Roll legends as well as weddings, events and all forms of portraits. While other photographers may focus on senior portraits, Photography G offers photoshoots for:
Garrett studied under renowned German Photographer Heinz Richter who helped him hone his craft and become one of best photographers in Colorado.
At Photography G, we don’t believe anyone is un-photogenic. The key to capturing you at your best is making you feel comfortable and relaxed. Garrett tends to veer away from rigid, posed pictures and instead focuses on being in the moment and catching a candid smile or laugh. His ability to help you feel like yourself in front of the camera will leave you with images you’ll cherish and make you wonder why you hated having your photo taken to begin with.
“Garrett is absolutely wonderful! Aside from being a genuinely good person, he's also a genuinely good photographer who loves his craft. I knew I was in good hands with him - with his fun, caring and professional demeanor. He went out of his way to satisfy me as a customer. Garrett knows how to make anyone feel comfortable - which is perhaps the biggest secret to great photography. Thanks to Garrett, an otherwise non-photogenic person (ME!) now has an awesome set of professional portraits.” — Johanna S.
Garrett’s photography style is organic and real, but it’s difficult to put a specific label on his talent. Photography G began with photographing live concerts which require split-second decisions to achieve the perfect image. What’s more, Garrett began his career using color and black-and-white film. Film photography required more know-how than the digital world we now live in. Garrett couldn’t simply look at the back of the camera to see if his exposure and framing were correct. He had to rely on instinct and talent to achieve stunning photographs with perfect composition.
Photojournalistic is the best way to describe how Garrett manages to capture these moments of pure excitement and emotion, and this ability transfers to the portrait photography aspect of Photography G.
No, there is not a time limit for your portrait photography session. However, we will need to know how much time to dedicate to you on the day of your photoshoot. The average portrait session takes one to two hours depending on whether you want your picture taken in the studio, on location or both. However, there could be an additional charge if your session exceeds three hours.
Of course. You can bring as many outfits as you’d like, but we recommend you limit yourself to two or three. If you’re unsure of what you want to wear, we can help you narrow down your choices. Multiple outfits are often best for studio portraits as we have a changing area available for you to use. Changing your clothes on location can become tricky depending on whether we’re in the mountains or at a city park.
There is not a limit on poses. We want you to have ample options when you pick out which images to print and use on your business profile, dating site or social media. Garrett and our associates encourage you to strike several poses, which helps you feel comfortable in front of the lens and gives Garrett the opportunity to catch a genuine smile and pose.
Many of our portrait clients choose to do their photoshoot in the studio and on location. Garrett will likely have you start in the studio, so any outfit changes can be done before we depart for the location. However, if your desired spot for photos is far away from our Uptown Denver studio, we may need to split your portrait session into a two-day shoot.
Garrett often comes to business locations to take staff photos and capture your office “environment” for branding purposes. He can also bring a backdrop for employee headshots. When Garrett does a corporate event, conference or sales meeting, he typically takes headshots of employees who may live out of town.
Whenever possible, yes, but we can’t guarantee Garrett or one of our associates will be available last minute. Many of our high school seniors and business professionals come to us on short notice, and more often than not, we can accommodate these requests.
Portrait sessions start at $175. However, our prices vary and are competitive.
We realize you need your business headshots, newborn photos or family portraits as soon as possible, and we work to make sure you receive your images in a timely fashion. Our average turnaround for portrait photography is one week. We may also post a teaser image on social media while we finish the editing process.
While you will have access to your images online to purchase prints and use on your website, dating profile or social media accounts, Photography G retains the copyright for your photos. We update our portfolio often and may use your photographs for advertising purposes. However, if you’re uncomfortable with your images being used in our marketing efforts, we can discuss other options.
You can schedule your portrait session with Garrett Hacking by calling (303) 444-6994. We will discuss what kind of photographs you’re looking for and decide which day and time work best for you.
Photography G provides professional photography services to clients in Denver, Boulder, the mountains and across the nation.
